We’ve all been told that it’s important to “eat the rainbow” with our fruits and vegetables, but why is it important to do that? 🤷🏼♀️ Why shouldn’t we eat the same thing every single day? I mean, it’s fine to have a plain salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, right? 🤢
Fortunately for all of us, that definitely is not the case. Our body actually thrives off of a variety of different coloured foods. 🌈
Different colours = different micronutrients.
Different micronutrients = different benefits for our body.
Different benefits for our body = improved physical and mental performance, as well as a sense of feeling so much better.
Not convinced yet?
If you’re not sure yet if you should introduce more colour and variety into your food, remember that these things also provide our bodies what they need to look, feel, and function at its best, day in and day out. Who wouldn’t want that?
Just the way we get sick of eating that plain old salad every single day (yuck), so does our body. So stop eating the same things every single day, and start introducing some more variety and colour. Your body (and mind) will thank you for it!
Want a delicious, colourful recipe for your next meal?
Disclaimer: I’m not hating on anyone that likes having the same foods everyday, even if it’s boring. But, if you (and your body) want a change in your food for the day, try out this *colourful* salad at your next meal:
- 1 chicken breast
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/4 red onion
- 1 boiled egg
- 3 cups romaine lettuce
- handful of cherry tomatoes
- 1/4 avocado
- choice of dressing (I love a nice Caesar dressing on mine!).
And if this doesn’t hit the spot, I challenge you to try to add even more colour to this recipe! The more the better.
